avid Spellman is an illustrator who specializes in drawing old houses. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, and a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles in Technical Theater/Design, David began his artistic career as a theatrical scenic artist and lighting designer. In his book Victorian Houses—A Treasury of 100 Original Designs, he has combined his artistic experience as a designer of theatrical stage sets with his lifelong love of old houses. His architectural illustrations have appeared in publications of the American Institute of Architects, as well as in various magazines and books, and most recently in a series of greeting card designs. David currently makes his home in Southern California.

he Hill House Publishing Company was established in 2000 for the purpose of publishing and distributing Victorian Houses—A Treasury of 100 Original Designs, by artist/author David Spellman. In 2006, we introduced a unique line of elegant greeting cards utilizing more of the artist’s illustrations, which depict classic Victorian houses in a variety of artistic styles. The Hill House card collection continues to grow, and many more card designs will be added during the coming months.
